For many people Santorini's beaches seem a bit "spooky" because most of them are black (it's a volcanic island). I found the Perissa beach crystal clear and beautiful.

Clean , busy and always found a sun bed available, very many restaurants and bars. Just be very careful if you don't like cold water!!! It was freezing. In my opinion, Perivolos is nicer than Perissa and less busy.

Tiny place geared to tourists, however font let this put you off, spectacular views, clear blue sea, black sand that gets so hot it could melt the souls of your trainers! The beach bars are epic and good is generally fabulous .... I recommend grilled kalimari and Greek salad with a Mythos on the side ! Kick back and enjoy... More

Its a tiny village on the opposite side of the island. It is very flat and we really enjoyed staying there. The other side was high up on cliffs. You could walk to the beach and lots of restuarants to choose from

been to Perissa twice in the last 2 years ,we are going again next month May 2013,the beaches are great even though it is black ash, most areas are well looked after and if you buy food or a drink in most beach bars you can use the sunbeds and parasols for free all day

Loved that FOR ONCE the beach chairs were FREE! We didn't even have to buy anything from the restaurant AND got free WiFi. Very close to many restaurants. We went during "off-peak" season so it was very quiet and relaxing. The black sand was extremely hot and not enjoyable for a stroll during the heat of the day. But overall,... More
