The windmills are the iconic essence of Mykonos and they are well worth making the brief trip to them. They are not far from the center of town and one should not be deterred by any reports or maps that make them seem distant nor should one be deterred by the relatively steep hill to see them up close. Mykonos has been a great party scene for the past 50 years, but has a long, heroic history. The boni windmill is not quite on the beaten path, but is just 1000 steps from the heart of Mykonos Town.
