A no cost trip with superb views, interesting remains dating back over 2000 years, if you go expecting intact buildings and in depth guide / tour you will be disappointed, if you have an imagination and want to wander around an interesting site (Very quiet when we visited) then you may well find it rewarding as we did.

I stumbled on these ruins with my girlfriend in the spring. They were truely magical. Large carved pieces of masonry laying amidst carpets of white flowers and ancient olive trees strung over 3 rocky outcrops. Against the concrete architecture of a reconstructed island with its blatant and all pervasive commercial theme it felt like a honest glimpse of the cephalonia... More

An impressive gateway leads onto the site. Even has the places for hinges and door frames. We walked around the whole site and found many pieces of roof tiles and pot. What a view down to Sami and along the coast. Well worth a visit and avoid going in the midday sun!

At the risk of sounding like a heathen - this is not on any grand scale - it is a large wall. This is all that is left and I am sure is was very impressive in its day. We walked from our hotel to this location in the hills in 32 dgeree heat and it was a big wall.... More

We went to Antisamos beach and this was signposted half way there and to be honest as it was just a few minutes off the way it was worth the little effort involved in going to see it. OK so there's not much there and in that Greek way that under plays all these sort of sites, if this was... More

Stumbled on by accident when we decided to test our little hire car in the mountains! My 9 year old who is history mad thought it was really interesting but to be honest, if ancient ruins are not your cup of tea, it's worth the drive up just to see the views down into Sami! Advised as part of a... More

Out on a lonely hill in the baking sunshine. We had a car so it was worth a quick look, but I would have been so annoyed if I'd walked up there in the blazing sun. Walking would take atleast an hour one-way from Sami centre. The hills are very steep.

Liked: - Free to get in - Amazing views of Sami and Karavamilos over the bay - Very good if you're interested in history - Completely deserted, so you get the place to yourself!

The Acropolis gives you great views but I'm not convinced it's worth the visit. The ground is very unstable with all the rocks and you need to be very careful with your footing. If you have hired a car it's probably worth the drive up just to check it out especially as there is the monastery further down the road... More
