"This lake and area, while different than Lake Louise, has it own unique beauty. The trails next to the lake offer beautiful vistas. The Lodge offers an experience of beauty with relaxation. "
"This is one of the most gorgeous lakes in the world and one of the most famous in Canada. Located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, it’s about a ½-hour 14-km drive from Lake Louise on winding, steep, and at times roughly paved roads. Its water gets its distinctive blue-green color from refraction of l..."ight on glacially deposited rock flour. It has a 0.5-km2 surface area at a 1,884 m surface elevation. The peaks create a spectacular backdrop and provide beautiful reflections in the water. When we were there ice wasn’t entirely out yet. But then again nor were the tourist throngs or the insect pests. While it’s worth seeing any time of day, earlier in the morning is probably best since vantage points near the parking lot all face almost due west.

"Peyto Lake is a gorgeous glacial lake visible from the Bow Summit turnout on the Icefields Parkway. Its elevation is 1,880 m, its length is 2.8 km, and its area is 5.3 square km. Finely ground rock particles carried into the lake by glacial melt water, give its water an exquisite turquoise or emeral..."d color. Its primeval-looking shores are heavily forested with firs. Behind them, rocky and barren slopes, cut with avalanche scars, descend from lofty mountain peaks above. If our mid-June day had been warmer, we’d have had a picnic lunch here. As it was, we trudged down a snowy and uneven trail for a view. We’d been lucky finally to snag a parking space after a long wait. Be aware that parking can be scarce here, as it was for us, even on bitterly cold days when you’d imagine no one else would be out.
