The Stratford Festival is a repertory theatre festival, permanently located in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Our mission is to produce, to the highest standards possible, the best works of theatre in the classical and contemporary repertoire, with special emphasis on the works of William Shakespeare.A national institution of international renown, the Festival is committed to maintaining and promoting the highest level of artistic excellence, to cultivating the widest possible audience and to providing theatre-related education and training for Canadian artists. In our creative exploration of the great works of the dramatic imagination, we aim to rediscover and reinvent those works for each new age, in order that they may continue to entertain, enlighten and inspire audiences of all ages and origins.

"Not sure if this is technically part of the "Stratford Edible Strolls" or if it comes under something else now, but the Chocolate Trail HAS to be recommended somewhere on Trip Advisor! For $25, you get six tickets to use at any of the 20 locations listed on the Chocolate Trail brochure. That include..."s the three chocolate shops in Stratford, plus many other stores you might not otherwise find in the town. Exploring Stratford via chocolate let us see the town at our own pace, go where we wanted to when we wanted to, and took us down streets in the town we might have otherwise missed. Especially loved Tea Leaves, Distinctly Tea, Olive Your Favourites (yes, olive oil on the chocolate trail!) and Rheo Thompson. Great way to get into all the shops if you're in town to shop during a weekend! While I'm marking this trip as 3+ hours in duration, that's if you do like we do and visit all 20 shops, very leisurely, and walk to all the locations.

"What a brilliant, beautiful place. The Stratford Shakespeare Festival delivers a tour de force of acting and overall experience. Here are some reasons to visit....
1. the acting is superb. I saw Measure for Measure and was mesmerized by the emotional energy that sprang from the stage.
2. The groun..."ds are lovely. Get here early enough to stroll along the lake or walk through the gardens.
3. There is a 20$ shuttle from downtown Toronto. Check the website for details.
4. The theaters are great without being gaudy or Disney-esque. You get the sense that this is a small city that holds a beloved treasure.
5. The staff are top notch. While I worried that I might be a bit underdressed, and I did show up without a ticket rather last minute, everyone was super helpful and friendly. There was not a whiff of elitism to be found. The Stratford Festival, while it deals with numerous big time generous donors, embodies the spirit of Shakespeare who created theatre for everyone.
I can't wait to come...

"Tommy was wonderful-loved Cousin Kevin! Kudos to the director and all involved form the actors to those behind the scenes. Good seats at the Avon are somewhat of a challenge-avoid the right front area if possible.
Acting in Mary Stuart is superb. Not much action, but the reason to purchase tickets ..."is THE acting.
Romeo and Juliet is staged, costumed and directed beautifully, a return to tradition. A MUST for Shakespeare fans. Sadly, I wish Romeo had half the passion of Mercutio-perhaps he will find it before the play opens.....
