The Magical History Tour is not just a means of ransporting you to Stonehenge but also a journey to explore the very soul of the people who have left such a mark on the landscape and in the psyche of today’s visitors. Before reaching the World Heritage Site you will be fully acquainted with the magnitude of the tasks these people undertook. At Old Sarum we stop and admire the fabulous 360 degree views. Originally an Iron-Age Fort, Old Sarum was inhabited by Celts, Romans,Saxons, Vikings and finally Normans. We stop and visit the ruined castle and imagine the chivalrous Knights jousting in the castle grounds, and wenches gossiping by the well….A short drive takes us to Old Harnham Mill close to the spot chosen by John Constable for his iconic painting of Salisbury Cathedral. Set amongst water meadows and away from the City, this is a view seen by too few visitors, which is a pity, because it is simply stunning « less

Initially on 63 acres of land adjoining the River Bourne, the farm has developed into a sustainable working farm, supported by full-time staff and by volunteers. The farm is managed by The River Bourne Community Farm C.I.C. This is a 'Community Interest Company' designed specifically for those wishing to operate for the benefit of the community rather than for the benefit of the owners of the company.Education plays a large part of the farm, giving local educational establishments access to the day-to-day work of the farm whilst stressing sustainability and ecologically sound practices. A traditional herd of cattle, with sheep, pigs and hens is complimented by some crop planting. Fruit and vegetables are grown in our education field and polytunnel. Visitors are welcome to come and have a look around the farm and see all the animals including our very friendly goats and donkeys. We have a farm shop selling eggs from our chickens, pork and sausages from pigs reared on the farm, local honey and many other lovely treats! We also have a cafe where you can get refreshments, home-made cakes and light lunches and snacks. Check our website for events, workshops and other information. « less
