Rocamadour Attractions: Places to Visit in Rocamadour
"Visiting here in May is probably very different to visiting here in the height of the season. When we arrived early afternoon, there were very few people about but lots of monkeys. Some in very playful mood and it was fun to watch them play fighting with each other. When you arrive, you are given ..."a handful of popcorn with which to feed them. They are so photogenic so make sure that you take your camera and a spare card and battery, you will take loads of photos! There is a large car park, clean toilets, a picnic area and a shop selling food.

The best way to approach the town is along the D36 road which takes you into L'Hospitalet..." which overlooks Rocamadour and from where you get a stunning view of the town (Take a camera!). At the end of the D36 (T junction) the viewpoint is 100m to your left and there is a small car park there too. If you can't park there, there is a lot of other parking in the other direction.
From the viewpoint follow the signs to the parking above the town with more views on the way.
There is a funicular railway in the car park for the infirm or those who don't fancy walking down (or up!!).
Be aware that:
If you want to visit the ramparts, you will nedd a 2€ piece for each person at the turnstile.
Toilets in the town require a 50 centime piece in the door; the mens too.

"We went specifically because our friend wanted to see the Black Virgin of Rocamadour. The town is interesting and pretty at the same time. I had been there about 30 years ago and remembered the ramparts which proved to be just as exhilarating now as they were then."
