Ay least 50% of the “Tourists” were Italian, so this town is appreciated by many Italians contrary to the last reviewer’s comments. There are an extensive selection of bars and restaurants in all price ranges available and the pedestrianized downtown is very pleasant stroll. Most of the nicer hotels are situated on the crescent adjacent to the harbour and beach front. The train station is at the eastern end of town and most of the nicer hotels are situated 5 to 10 minute walk away. The train service is extensive and efficient and I would recommend coming by train and using it to get around rather than a private car.   "It's a beautiful harbor and the two has many good restaurants and shops. Only a 1 1/2 hour train ride to Cinque Terre and a 15 minute boat ride to Portofino. We are really happy we chose it as our home base for three days."
