A thousand years of history and 250 years of astronomy at the Specola: born as medieval tower, in 1767 it was transformed in Astronomical Observatory. The Observatory is one of the main structures of INAF - National Institute for Astrophysics now, and in its museum you can see rooms and instruments used by the past-centuries astronomers

"Unfortunately during our visit, the Baptistry is ( and I guess, will be for at least other 2 years ) under a massive restoration so we did not have the chance to admire it in its complete beauty.
I was at least happy that the main thing I wanted to see was not covered by scaffolding or similar stuf..."f. The last judgement painted in the Baptistry has a particular detail. The "beast" has a papal tiara in every head and as far as I know this may be the only thematic painting with that detail. Interesting.

"I found really pleasant walking in this square with all its statues, fountain and bridges. Its complete beauty can be admired only by a point standing at least 50 metres from the ground but unfortunately I have not found any so only ground-level photos were taken. It is instead a good spot to take p..."ictures of the cathedral of Santa Giustina located near by.

"The square is a normal one, perhaps above average considering the history but in my opinion " Prato della valle" is better. The thing that makes this place one of the most beautiful location I have ever seen is the, functioning, astronomic clock tower that watches over the square. The tower is a per..."fect reconstruction of the original that perished under the fire. The investigative eye will find that among the signs of the Zodiac the sign of Libra is missing. This is due to the fact that the astronomy of the clock is based on the pre-Roman zodiac system where the constellations of Scorpio and Libra were merged into one.
