this is the bora bora + maldives of venezuela. and supposedly cayo de agua is the #1 gem of los roques national park (which consists of many keys, a few inhabited, most not)

the easiest way to access this national park is to fly from caracas-maiquetia airport. there are 4 airlines currently operating this route: conviasa, aerocaribe, sascaair, airway lineaerea. conviasa is the cheapest, on weekdays, at 170 usd RT. the rest are in the 250-300 usd range on any day of the week. the conviasa plane is a 12 seater caravan, with 4 rows of seat at 1-2 arrangement. flight is 30 min each way.

the current price (oct 2022) for a full day boat trip to cayo de agua is 80 usd. 8 pax minimum for the boat to depart. the day trip also includes a stop at dos mosquises to see turtles, a stop to find starfishes, and a stop at cayo crasqui to visit the village.

currently, it is not possible to walk on the sandbar (or even see it) between the two islands at cayo de agua. which is what attracts most to this key. apparently there was a storm in early october that has swept most of the sand away, and therefore it will take another few months for the current on either side to reestablish this island connector.

this beach is so remarkably beautiful, it truly is a gem. the activities as well on this beach are really affordable and enjoyable, i did the ATV tour and had the time of my life. the locals prepare shrimp, lobster and fish on the beach and it is amazingly affordable and delicious. one thing i cannot stand is the constant bombardment by locals to sell trinkets and massages and other things. conversely i understand that due to the situation in venezuela they need to make a living. but this beach is always an important and necessary part of my vacation to margarita

We visited the Church while on a historic tour around the island August 2018...the church and surroundings are well maintained ..the interior was so beautiful..with stained colourful windows , images of Mary,Jesus the cross and other `holy` images gave you such a peaceful serene feeling...encouraged you to stop and reflect /pray...on the outside were handicraft/jewelry vendors with such beautiful well made items ...made you feel like choosing all...would like to visit again soon.

Beautiful beach at Madrizqui. Amazingly beautiful colors on the sea .3.5 km by boat from Gran Roque. where we lived. Perfect relaxing day with my wife. with cooler with food and drink from hotel. and chairs and parasols from boat crew. We went for a walk around a part of the island. was and snorkeled. Perfect, very many beautiful fishes. Have a good lunch at the little "restaurant" on the island. Long walks in the sea (shallow water in a very large area) and on sandbanks. Everything we needed for a perfect day on a perfect beach. Recommended.

    Wow. Simply wow!
Serene, historic and an amazing view!
The entire site is just historic. From the cobble stones, to the canons to the restored building you actually feel the history. Signs are also bi-lingual, adding to your history lesson.
The view is just stunning! The entire region of Juan Griego is on display. The sea and fishing port look stunning from this view!
A definite must see when in Margarita!

This site is a lighthouse on a military base, the admission is free, its in Pampatar, one can get there by taxi, there is a gift shop at the base of the lighthouse, there are stairs inside the lighthouse and doors on different levels where you can a great view of different points on the island, the top has a balcony where you can get a 360 degree view, the tour is not guided, after your visit there are a couple of lovely restaurants nearby to eat, Juana Loca and El Fondeadero, its a must see site in Margarita

The best of the best, this is a must go. I have been in Cubagua a trillion times and I always get the urge to come back. Your experience can vary from getting relaxed and disconnected to enjoying a different day with all your friends. The service is a 10/10, I always choose Infinito Catamaranes for a Full Day and Cubagua Lodge to stay the night (this is the only option for stays) or you can go on a yacht to stay or have a day in the island, huge difference in terms of money. Yachts are expensive but always an option for those who like it.

You can find these guys I mentioned on Instagram as @infinitocatamaranes for the Full Day and @cubagualodge for the stays. For Yacht services I don’t know which company has them as I never rented one for Cubagua but I know there is availability.

10000000% would recommend to anyone. They are PET FRIENDLY😍🐶 and the service, food, place is a 10/10.

Visited here with my family in June. Great show!!!! Amazing experience swimming with the dolphins. Staff are friendly however spoke little english. The park you should note is a bit run down looked as if it was beautiful once . It is in need of an upgrade. The time spent with dolphins is about 30 minutes. The pictures and video is US35. Havent received my video yet though!!!
