The Giant's House - A historic Akaroa house with original artworks, terraced gardens with sculptures and mosaics. Very Unique. A creative feast and a wonderful experience. Romantic secluded and quiet, but only a few minutes walk to the centre of Akaroa. The Giant's House was the first bank managers house in Akaroa, built 1880 of totara and kauri. It is grand in size, proportions, and features. Elegant and comfortable, it is designed and decorated in the french style. Being the home of an artist it balances and contrasts the historic and contemporary. Both the house and terraced gardens are full of surprises -expect the unexpected at The Giant's House!

"While on a cruise we were lucky enough to have booked the Fox II for a sightseeing tour. We thought this was one of the best tours of many we took in New Zealand. We saw a lot of wildlife, some incredible scenery. The information from the captain was very informative and well presented. When we retu..."rn to New Zealand we will do this tour again.

"We are so pleased we chose Fox ll to explore the harbour on. The skipper Roy and his crew were very knowledgable and a lot of fun. It was a small tour group and felt very personal and a lot ... romantic, seriously! The beautiful music set the mood.
The Dolphins danced all morning for us. We saw a..." lone penguin, lots of seals and birds.
While we were out in the open waters of the sea with the sails up, we sat quietly and watched the Albatross.
Very special, we loved it all.

"We called at the Giant's House with our 2 young children. It was really a charming place & the sculptures, statues, gardens are nothing short of amazing!
The only thing I was disappointed in was definitely the price. We ended up paying, simply because at the time of year we went, there were not..." many other attractions operating & we thought it would be good for the kids to see. I don't know if it's exactly "value for money" as all we really did was walk around for half an hour then leave.
We did enjoy it, so it's a personal decision as to what you decide to do!
