The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven; temporarily while they heal or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own.We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and can not be released back into the wild to care for themselves.

Bear Mountain ski resort is part of Big Bear Mountain Resorts, being one of two ski/snowboard areas in Big Bear. Each resort caters to certain types of skiers and boarders. There is a shuttle that frequently runs between both resorts (which are about 1 mile apart) and your lift ticket entitles you to go back and forth between each resort. Both resorts have ski schools. Expect large crowds during holiday periods, but both resorts do not oversell tickets, so overcrowding on the mountain usually isn't an issue. The chairlift attendants are all very helpful, especially with young children. Don't be afraid to ask them to slow down the chair if you're a beginner or have children in tow. Reservations are highly recommended for all ski lessons. Private lessons are available. The price of a lesson, either private or group is well worth the money to assure a safe and enjoyable experience!

Year round family recreation area. The Alpine Slide attraction is California's only authentic bobsled ride. Take a scenic chairlift ride to the top, then hop on a specially designed sled and control your own speed down a 1/4 mile long track. In the summer enjoy our refreshing double Water Slide and in the winter tube on our Snow Play hill with Magic Carpet uphill lift. We also offer Go-Karts and an 18 hole miniature golf course. Our newly renovated building has plenty of indoor seating and an expanded snack bar. An outdoor patio, Water Slide deck and many grass areas allow for plenty of relaxing. Parents pay only if you play!

"I found a deal on the zipline tour from Groupon, which was great because I didn't even know there was a zipline in Big Bear!! My husband and I have wanted to do a zipline adventure again ever since we did one in Costa Rica. And Big Bear is only 1 1/2 hours away from home.
I don't really want to ..."compare to Costa Rica because it is different, but I may use it a little as a reference.
First off, the staff was really friendly and the experience was a lot of fun. There was a large group the day we went,18 people total, so there was a bit of a wait for each zipline. The scenery was lovely, I just wish we had been higher up in the trees. The platforms are built on tall metal posts and not around the trees like in Costa Rica. With all the people it made the platforms wobble, so that was a little unsettling. I didn't care for the suspension bridge at all, but at least I can say I did it. The ziplines themselves were plentiful and long so that provided a nice long zipline adventure. I...

"I recommend this tour, it gives you more information and a complete view of the Big Bear Lake and history. It is very relaxing, comfortable, complete and a very good price! They have restroom, drinks and snacks.I really liked it! The ride is smooth and quiet.Don't miss it!"
"This is really a nice visitors center, and the new outside discovery area for kids, opening on Memorial Day 2013 is going to be loads of fun for kids from 6 to 60. Explore the center, walk the grounds, learn about Big Bear"
