  "We reserved a 1:30 tasting in the Salon and had such a unique and fun experience. I equate it to a 8 person wine party experience (sitting at a round dinner table in their salon having wine and cheese). The decor is funky and the table settings are beautiful with flowers and candles etc. A few of th..."e wines were decanted and overall we tasted many great wines. Our wine guide was also very friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were all reasonably priced (esp their 2005 magnum merlot) and they do ship. The tastings are only by appointment and they are $65pp. They do say a food and wine pairing and some people get confused by this. Most wineries refer to a food pairing as cheese, nuts and chocolate that enhance the wine, rather than a meal that is served. Overall we loved Swanson and are very happy we went! " More >

  "We booked a reserve tasting for $40pp and honestly this is what saved it for us. We have been to cakebread before but this time seemed different. The guy at the front entrance asks you why you're there, and then we were stopped no less then 4 times in the space of 20 feet from the parking lot to the..." entrance. They may have been put there to try and be helpful, but it was WAY too much with being stopped every few seconds. The people were also very awkward and would follow you until the next person stopped you. It was definitely not an environment where you could just walk around and enjoy the winery/vineyard, take pictures etc. You were ushered in and then right back out. What saved it for us was our reserve tasting with Lia. She was FANTASTIC and the wine was excellent! The reserve tasting flight was the best of any vineyard and we ordered many wines to ship home. Overall the experience was saved but it was still disappointing compared to other wine tastings. " More >
