What travellers are saying
- Kari W2 contributionsMake a reservation! I had no idea that it would be so busy. Also, do not arrive more than 10 min early, as you just wait around in a very small space. I had my family wait in the air conditioned car, while I checked in for them. My kids loved seeing all of the turtles and learning how the hospital helped to heal them. We got very lucky and got to see a release at Sombrero beach. I would encourage you to follow the turtle hospital on facebook.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Debbie LNew Hyde Park, NY7 contributionsVery interesting tour. Our guide, I wish I could remember his name but he’s the only volunteer who’s been there 20 years, was very knowledgeable but I’ve done this tour before and last time I enjoyed hearing more about Henry Flagler and the workers. This tour was more about timelines, the 18 year span of the project.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emily M2 contributionsBeautiful, fun, memorable, and affordable adventure for all ages. Went as a family of 5 with two family members over the age of 70 and an 8 month old. So much to see and learn. We took the golf cart tour which was no added cost.
We saw-
Large Land Turtles
Little Racoons
Parrot Fish
Feet pedicure fish
Iguana
Banyan Trees
Butterfly
My only recommendation to the visitor center would be to update their educational resources and teachings about the indigenous communities of the Keys. In addition the tour and information was a very white focused/white perspective and would have been much more real, equitable, and education with BIPOC stories and perspective. This includes more information and discussion about the refuge boats that they have on sight. If you are going to keep the boats to show the public it seems important to have information and discussions about what they represent for the people who travel in them.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pkautenBelleair Beach, FL15 contributionsGreat Exercise! We decided to bike on the newly refurbished 7 mile bridge. It's a beautiful bike ride...the spectacular water colors make the walk/bike path an added value. The path is actually only 2.5 miles each way and the path is clearly marked for you! - Jeff S5 contributionsNarrow beach but nice white sand and nice restroom/changing areas.
Parking is $5 per hour pay by card.
A couple of palm trees for shade, so you better bring your own shade with you.Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The little ones were encouraged to 'touch' stingrays and other marine life which was a huge hit! Would definitely recommend!Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- jhayes222Brunswick, GA27 contributionsIts about 5 miles from 7 mile bridge. Sombrero light which you have to access by either renting a boat or taking an excursion. Beautiful water and sealife.Written 19 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kim CKnoxville, TN51 contributionsBeautiful drive across 7 mile bridge, but especially like biking across the OLD 7 mile pedestrian-bike bridge. It is 2.5 miles each way/ 5 miles total so we ride it twice. No where more beautiful for a bike ride. If lucky you might see sea turtle or sting rays on clear days.Written 19 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tour4871102868715 contributionsWe went to see the Christmas lights and they did not disappoint. The lights are gorgeous and you walk through the church garden with the statues that are all beautifully decorated. We went twice while we were in town.Written 21 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JoeyLucasWashington DC, DC11 contributionsWe were surprised to find that this state park is not renting kayaks. You need to bring your own or use an outside provider.
The beach is very small, but we enjoyed walking in the shallow water and seeing the hermit crabs,Written 1 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
