"We kayaked down Bayou Teche and across a canal to Lake Martin and then around and across the lake. Exquisite. It was interesting kayaking the bayou and the canal was quiet, beautiful and almost primeval. The lake is rimmed with swamps filled with aligators, turtles, frogs and hundreds of birds. ..." The lake is also dotted with a few dozen duck blinds. We had a wonderful time kayaking, winding among the trees in the swamp areas, gliding up to birds and past aligators. I did miss having a nature guide. I would like to also do a swamp tour with a knowledgable guide. But nothing could be better than gliding down the Teche and the canal completely, utterly alone surrounded by the magnificence of nature. May is an absolutely fantastic time of year to visit. If you are in the area, definitely at least take a swamp tour of Lake Martin with a good guide. If you can, rent a kayak and spend a leisurely day paddling.

The lake is magic, rimmed by swamps, filled with wildlife, birds, turtles, aligators and dotted with duck blinds. You can cross open water or maneuver amongst the trees of the swamps. You can easily imagine yourself back 100 years. If you like kayaking and you find yourself near Breaux Bridge do this now before word gets out and the routes get crowded! I wish we'd had a whole day and could have picnic'd for an hour or two along the way. Cory knows his stuff, clearly loves the area and makes the journey easy. You can paddle for a short hour or so, 2 to 3 hours or all day. I wish I'd h...

"They were very accommodating, even coming in early to get our tour in before 9am! Tim our guide was incredibly knowledgable and respectful of the bayou and swamp, but he still got us just inches from a big gator! I would go back for sure and ask for Tim!"
