If you are visiting Chimney rock town, this park is situated right in downtown (but you will need a car to travel up to the visitor center from where you can catch an elevator to the top of Chimney Rock). I say that is is a perfect bucket list item if you are into state parks and nature. If you also plan to see the waterfalls on your hike, visit during the warmer North Carolina months. Dec was not the best time, though I did still see a shallow stream and sleeting in many places over the rocks.

Seating at the falls allowed me to take a breath from the hike and enjoy the surroundings.Written 8 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ModernQuiltersMooresville, NC3 contributionsTruly along the river. Many places to walk in the river. A real treat! Weekday just before leaf season so it wasn’t crowded.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan MFrankfurt, Germany68 contributionsTook the kids here after hiking the trails at Chimney Rock State Park. They had various sizes of buckets making it affordable for everyone, and my kids had a great time. Kyle and Bobby were GREAT! They took the time to explain the types of rocks the kids discovered and cracked open the geodes they found. They were genuinely kind and helpful. We will definitely be back!Written 15 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SteveK28762Worcestershire, UK95 contributionsWhat a lovely place. We'd seen the views of and from Chimney Rock so it was a must-see for us. It seems quite a climb when you park, but there's an elevator! It's been dug out of the rock, so there's a tunnel to the elevator door which, in busier times, is probably quite a lengthy wait. We were lucky, walking straight in without queuing. At the stop, follow the short walkway to the Chimney Rock itself. Staggering views of the valley below.
A great place to stop - probably spend more time there than we did of hiking is your thing, it's really lovely.Written 5 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While some are quite old, they appeared to be well-maintained and safe! 😁 You also have a view of the big waterfall at Chimney Rock State Park.Written 2 October 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
