"Let's set the total picture first. We are just average Joe's from Minneapolis on vacation in Playa del Carmen and we were able to get here using local transportation (bus) and found the dive shop easily on our own. "Over the years have gone to Akumal Beach several times. In 2012 was there twice and never disappointed. The beauty of the water and the white sand adds so much for a day of snorkeling or just laying in the sun. Both times last year I was able to see turtle eggs hatching as many as 180 babies and ..."later that night in the dark watch them being released to water. Walking the beach is such a pleasure. Stayed at the Akumal Beach Resort right on the Akumal Beach. You can get a day pass to use the beach and snorkel or rent scuba gear for diving.
