I'm Captain Tim Deckard and I've been a fishing guide in the Low Country for over 15 years. This year, I've partnered with Shallow Sport, makers of the ultimate shallow water running fishing boats. Part of being a good fisherman is having the right equipment and these boats are the best of the best. When you come aboard my 21' Modified V, you'll notice a smooth running deep V hull that rolls gently into a tunnel at mid ship and has reverse chines up front to eliminate any chance for spray. This one-of-a-kind hull design allows for tremendous rough water performance, and still permits for maneuvering in the shallow flats, where we'll find Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Tarpon, Cobia and other near shore species.

"What a surprise to find a thriving wetland ecosystem in the midst of this little town! This is basically a wild-life-filled open space tucked in between the homes and businesses. The ponds and trees are mostly surrounded by paved trail and crossed here and there by well-built boardwalks and viewing ..."platforms which are great for photography. You can park on Paris Street and begin with the largest of the wetland’s raised board walks where we found dozens of snowy egrets and other wading birds, ducks, song birds and turtles. But our most exciting find was a rather large alligator we saw out in the middle of the area. I don’t know if it is always around, but it was quite a spectacular sight! Best view of a large alligator I have seen in the wild!!

"Late winter, just before the leaves fill out, is the best viewing time. The birds are back and you can still see them well. This is a hidden gem of a nature area in the midst of the little town of Port Royal. Created only a couple of years ago, as a natural stormwater treatment pond, this little si..."te has become a lush, natural nesting area that attracts hundreds of birds. It is home to large alligators and turtles as well. There are wonderful viewing areas and walkways. We visited it several times during March 18-23, 2013, and each day we saw new arrivals. HIghlights were dozens of nesting Great Egrets, Tri-colored Herons, Black-crowned Night Herons and Anhingas. We saw Green Herons, Yellow-crowned Night Herons, Wood Ducks, Hooded Mergansers, Moorhens, Little Blue & Great Blue Herons. Great place for the nature photographer - you can't miss getting pictures of a lifetime. This is the best birding site we've ever found in the southeast.

"I love the outdoors and spotting wildlife. This was a great surprise while driving around Port Royal.
I always have my camera with me and boy was I glad I had one with me. I was so amazed at all the different birds. "Just Amazing!" Check it out if you are ever in the area."
