So you get the best of both worlds, a beautiful state park that is close to all sorts of amenities. Reading some of the other reviews I concur that the signage as you enter the park is poor. If you don't already know what there is to see the small signs don't help much to add to your knowledge. My strong recommendation is to stop at the Guardhouse which is on your left two blocks inside the walls of the fort. In the guardhouse are volunteers who can provide all sorts of maps and information about things to do both in the park and in the surrounding area.
