Come visit the Anna Ranch Heritage Center which offers insight to the rich history of ranching and the paniolo on the Big Island. The lush green hills of Waimea offer a beautiful back drop to the unique story of Anna Leialoha Lindsey Perry-Fiske who was known as the “First Lady of Ranching“ in Hawaii. As one of Hawaii’s finest Pa’u riders, an award winning jockey and one who could throw amazing social events to raise funds for the community, Anna’s story will leave you amazed and inspired. Born in 1900 and living to the age of 95, Anna lived a long exciting life. Prior to her death she placed her ranch in a trust so that the history of ranching in Hawaii would be shared with future generations.Listed on both the National and State registers of historic places, the ranch is a one of a kind attraction. Visitors may tour the spectacular and expansive gardens as well as the fourteen room historic ranch house with a treasure trove of Hawaiian koa furnishings, artifacts and fine millinery.

"Have you ever wanted to ride a free roaming horse across rolling acres of hills in the montains surrounded by clouds? If so...this is that place...it is magical. I love riding horses but in Illinois, all the rides are on a trail or in some sort of circular arena. At Dahana, which is a family owne..."d working farm, they allow you to ride a horse on arces of hills on the farm that seems to be in the clouds. The family who runs the farm is very safety concious above all, but they still allow you to actually "ride" a horse. As oppose to some horse rides where you just "sit" on the horse while it follows the ones in front of it. The Guides at the ranch also make sure that you know that horses should be treated with respect just like you would a person. The ranch cares about its animals. I can't tell you enough how riding at Dahana can make you feel stress free. Weather it is the 1 1/2 hour, 2 hour, or the Cattle Drive (yeah, you read it right...A Cattle Drive!!!!) you will find yours...

"Sweet little beach...calm waters so its great for kids to swim in. Loved that there were no water crafts anywhere to be seen. I also felt like more locals come here which is nice sometimes to get away from the touristy parts."
"Played here several times this trip, and always when on the Big Island. Beautiful course with many changes of elevation throughout. People in the pro shop are great! Not very many people playing the course the two days we played. Played in @ 3 1/2 hours which was nice. Hole #3 Par 3 over the ocean ..."is awesome!! Rates reasonable if you stay at the Mauna Kea or Hapuna hotels.
