Considered one of the toughest courses in the nation, and named one of the top three golf clubs in Hawaii by Golf Digest, this magnificent golf course was carved out of a rain forest on the windward side of the 2,000-foot Ko'olau mountain range.

Aloha,My name is Donna Welch. I am a photographer living on Oahu. I offer an unique activity option for tourists ~ a professional photo shoot.... but not just any professional photo shoot....My sessions are 2 hours long with props from jewelry to jumping ropes to flowing scarves to splashing in the sea to glittering gowns to risque 'From Here to Eternity' shots... to anything that my imagination (and the client's) can create... and I am very creative.I have had clients tell me it has been the most fun they have had while on vacation. It is affordable and the souvenirs will be like no other (hundreds of professional, fun shots on CDs for them to take home). Please take a look at the gallery images on my website for more information. Not all people can snorkel or scuba dive. Not all people want to be in a large group traveling around the island or watching a Hawaiian show. But, everyone enjoys individual attention on secluded beaches or parks, kicking up the sand or smelling the exotic flowers. And everyone loves to take home a special token of their time in Hawaii. Let me capture the spirit of the moment... with people of all shapes, sizes and personalities.Consider this as an activity where you are on center stage. A performer. How fun is that?Mahalo,Donna Welchdwelch1432@aol.com808-699-4330

"Even with our GPS, we missed the turn for the Valley of the Temples and had to turn back. I still wasn't sure we were in the right place since the Byodo-In Temple is further down a winding road.
What threw me off was the typical-looking Christian church at the turn. Nothing in what I had read said..." it was a road lined with several churches interspersed in cemetery grounds. It creeped out my husband a little until we parked and walked to the entrance of the Temple.
It is really beautiful. Peaceful grounds, a lovely koi pond with black swans, and a little stream that surrounds the building make it very picturesque. True to the original in Japan, albeit on a smaller scale, I was impressed. You'll be glad you stopped.

"You can stop and browse the gift shop, sample coffee and nuts, and go out and crack your own macadamia nuts and eat them. (One of the staff warned us to eat no more than 3 because otherwise it could cause digestive tract issues - so unless you want to have to run to the restroom, enjoy up to 3 and ..."then return to the gift shop to buy roasted ones!)
There is a tour that they charge a fee for and there are only a few per day, so call ahead so you don't miss it (like we did). We were told by one of the locals that it is a good (shorter, and less expensive) overview tour/history of Oahu/Hawaii (as compared to the Polynesian Cultural Center all day show.)
Parking is free. The grounds and views of the surrounding mountains are amazing. A nice stop along the coastline.

"This botanical garden is 400 acres, so it isn't a quick in/out place to visit. They are very prompt with their park closure times, so be prepared to be out by 4 p.m.! We arrived in the afternoon and so picked one area (native Hawaiian plants) to visit and then climbed to the overlook across the pa..."rk road and enjoyed amazing views of the mountains and the ocean until it was time to go.
This isn't a flower garden, so don't expect that. This is a trees, bushes, shrubs, plants kind of botanical gardens (this is what we were told by one of the park employees and what we experienced at the native Hawaiian portion of the garden.)
Tip: One of the locals told us to wear insect repellent, but we forgot and this was the only time during our time on the island that we got bit by mosquitos. So definitely use insect repellent!
