Banks Peninsula near Christchurch, New Zealand is a must see for its stunning views, beautiful bays and quirky campgrounds. Little River is the gateway to the peninsula. The township has a hotel/pub, 2 cafes, a petrol station, art gallery, craft store and small museum. There are B&Bs, plus the Little River Campground in Okuti Valley Road. They have affordable campervan parks with power, cabins and tentsites set beside a river. The southern bays have some of the best surf, if you know the secret spots as well as good, safe swimming beaches, walking tracks and the Little River Rail Trail. It is a a place that is often over looked as tourists head to Akaroa. If you want to experience more than the usual, to get off the beaten track and really explore, ask at the craft station, which has an info centre.

Tranz Scenic is New Zealand’s only long distance passenger train network. We take passengers across New Zealand in comfort and style through some of the most scenic areas of the North and South Islands. It is an experience not just a journey. We have the Overlander train connecting Auckland and Wellington, the Coastal Pacific between Picton and Christchurch and the world famous TranzAlpine from Christchurch to Greymouth. The Coastal Pacific departs daily from Christchurch passing through Kaikoura and Marlborough regions before arriving in the sea port township of Picton and connecting with the Interislander ferry.

The Giant's House - A historic Akaroa house with original artworks, terraced gardens with sculptures and mosaics. Very Unique. A creative feast and a wonderful experience. Romantic secluded and quiet, but only a few minutes walk to the centre of Akaroa. The Giant's House was the first bank managers house in Akaroa, built 1880 of totara and kauri. It is grand in size, proportions, and features. Elegant and comfortable, it is designed and decorated in the french style. Being the home of an artist it balances and contrasts the historic and contemporary. Both the house and terraced gardens are full of surprises -expect the unexpected at The Giant's House!

Test your limits. Conquer your fear. Adrenalin Forest is best described as a multi level aerial obstacle course. Participants negotiate a series of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and flying foxes from platforms constructed in the tree canopy. Adrenalin Forest is a great confidence builder and adrenalin rush. The adventure park features an aerial obstacle course up to 20 meters off the ground, 6 pathways of progressive difficulty, about 2 km in length and covering 4 hectares of forest. Participants attached by an overhead safety wire safely negotiate a series of 100 challenging activities high up in the tree canopy.

"As I plan this year's family bike tour and compare past trips, I realize I've been tardy in recommending a remarkable custom tour in to the South Island organized by owner/operator, Brian Farrant. First, Brian loves his country, his array of tiptop bicycles, his cohorts, and being a tour guide. For ..."13 days and about 16 people of various riding strengths, we experienced city, rural, coastal terrain, landscapes and amenities from Christchurch to Queenstown, using very detailed maps and directions. I appreciated the profile maps that helped decide, especially on the steep climbing, how long I would ride. Shuttle support was always accessible. Streams, rivers, harbor bays, lake, lagoon, seas--lots of spectacular water scenery; plus a hot springs soak and hike on Fox Glacier! The picnic lunches provided are fresh, hearty and plentiful. And the restaurant choices excellent, especially at the wine tasting. Brian is an ambassador for NZ cycling and life; his attention to customer service f...

"We are a doctor family from Mumbai, India and drove down from Christchurch to Rakia Gorge in 90 minutes. Our initial booking was for 930am. However, when we realized that we are likely to be late, Blair was kind enough to reschedule the trip for us at 1030am. He even called us up early in the morni..."ng to update us on the weather conditions. Incidentally we were the only ones at the Rakaia gorge that day and were lucky to have the boat and gorge (!) to ourselves. Blair was very friendly and ensured that we had a good time with many bonus 360 spins. The scenery was stunning and the jet boat was handled with dexterity. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending the discovery jet and its ride. Move over Shotover Jet.!

"This was a hidden gem - this made our 3 week trip to NZ complete. Awesome guided tour of retired army vehicles followed by 15 minutes of tank driving bliss. I had such a big grin that I was spitting grit out of my teeth for quite a while afterwards. Well maintained vehicles and great customer ser..."vice. Highly recommended for anyone who loves tanks or the rush of driving powerful machines.
