  • 1. The Elephant !!!
    http://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/

The last creature from famous street art company "Royal de Luxe". This giant elephant is just one of the reasons I love my city. It's simply magic. 12 meters high. You can go on the top of his back for 6 euros and have an unforgettable trip along the Loire river. You can also visit there the extraordinary machines de l'Ile. The elephant is the first attraction of many to come in the next years. A giant tree and aquarium... Really in the spirit of the city. Nantes is the city of Jules Verne and Jacques Demy ! Pure poetry. Open all year long except in January.

  • 2. The castle of the Dukes of Brittany
    http://www.chateau-nantes.fr/en/

It recently reopened after having been restored during 4 years. Former Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. You can walk on the ramparts for free and have an unique view on the city. You can also visit the museum. The castle is located in the heart of the city.

  • 3. Passage Pommeraye
    Passage Pommeraye, Nantes, Loire-Atlantique

The passage is very poetic. Inspired movie director Jacques Demy who was native from Nantes.

  • 4. The river Erdre

Walk along the river Erdre which goes North. After a few minutes, you have got the feeling to leave the city and be in complete nature. You can also rent a little boat. Along the Erdre, you have many "Folies", nice typical castles.

  • 5. The cathedral Saint Pierre

Beautiful Cathedral in Tuffeau, a soft white rock. The inside of the Cathedral is incredibly well lit (because of this white stone). Some dukes of Brittany are buried there.

  • 6. The market of Talensac

This covered market opens everyday but Tuesday. Fishes, seafood, vegetables, fruits... everything looks, smells and tastes good. THE market of Nantes. Great to meet Nantes people too.

  • 7. Le Lieu Unique
    http://www.lelieuunique.com/accueil/accueil.html

Former factory of the famous "Petit Beurre", a biscuit with a great taste of milk and butter. Now a cultural center with its bar and restaurant. Nice festivals, art exhibits, dj concerts... and new its beautiful hammam !!

  • 8. Place Graslin and La Cigale

Brasserie La Cigale is located on the nice Place Graslin. This historical Brasserie offers a wonderful decor (Art Nouveau Style). Give a try to the mackerel pie with a glass of Muscadet (local white wine). You won't regret it!

  • 9. Trentemoult

It is a small harbour on the other side of the Loire river. If you have no car, you can take the boat shuffle (great short trip in itself). Once you are there, you feel far from the city. Great atmosphere. Walk in its tiny streets and have a drink or dinner along the river.

  • 10. Hangar à Bananes

Brand new! Located on the Ile de Nantes, on the former harbour of the city. This place keeps the industrial spirit. Many bars and restaurants along the Loire, a night club soon, an art space. And the beautiful Cercles of artist Daniel Buren (beautiful at night). Great place to relax!
