Puneet A's City Tips

  • Navigate Delhi using efficient metro service. Single tickets and all-day passes are available.
  • Use tuk-tuks, auto rickshaws, and cycle rickshaws in areas where the metro is not available.
  • Tipping 10% in restaurants, where service charge is not automatically included, is generally accepted.
  • Delhi is quite traditional when it comes to dress. Keep your knees and shoulders covered when visiting most tourist sights.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as there can be plenty of walking.
  • Delhi-belly is practically unavoidable. Reduce your chances of feeling unwell by drinking only bottled water and eating freshly cooked food.

Humayun's Tomb is the final resting place of the great Mughal Emperor, Humayun. Built in the mid-16th century, the tomb beautifully melds elements of Persian and Mughal architecture in a magnificent red sandstone structure. It later became the inspiration for the design of the Taj Mahal — and some even believe it is the more impressive of the two!

While some think CP, as the locals know it, has gone a little downhill in recent years, the white-columned, circular market is an interesting example of the city's colonial history.
