I was here attending a wedding. The hotel is an adventure and surroundings are as taken out of a Tolkien book (weather in these parts of Norway also gives you the feeling of being in Mordor). Highly recommended and definitely worth a detour.

We stayed for 1 night recently. The hotel is special and different. Quirky perhaps but in a very nice way. Staff are professional but friendly. It is a step back in time, no room phone, no TV but that is part of its character. Try it.
You cant argue with two nights in the most beautiful surroundings, being waited on by very caring hosts. There are wool blankets on the outdoor chairs for the chilly evening air. The roaring sound of a waterfall cascading down the mountain opposite the hotel is constant and is the backdrop to birds sounds. but this is a very stuffy hotel...

Back to the future, in a good way. No hassle, no tv, no stress. Just relaxed atmosphere, beautiful scenery, excellent food and a very pleasant historic feeling. Amazing!
I was lucky enough to get married at Hotel Union Øye this weekend and can only say that even though I had high expectations of the hotel - they easily surpassed my expectations on every level. The hotel director Mariann Øye-Mork was present both late and early and always available and helpful. All of the staff went out of ther...

Wow – what a great hotel. This place has history and interest written all over it, which is a really unusual thing in Norway where function is often chosen over form.
Each room is individually decorated, so there is no standard room here. They are all named after people who have stayed there and it is a list of rich...

My brother and his family stayed at this hotel in June 2010 and highly recommended that it be part of my trip to Norway. It was excellent advice. My girlfriend and I rented a car (expensive, around $100 per day; my brother took buses) to travel from Aelesund (Alesund) to the Fjords and Runde Island. The hotel was fantastic, just...

Before mentioning the hotel, the situation; the valley is about as remote and wild a place as I saw in Norway; and all the more wonderful as unlike some of the nearby tourist traps (I'm thinking of the spoiled beauty of the overly busy Hellesylt to Geiranger Ferry) the oye valley is empty, wild and has a cold harshness to...

We stayed two nights at Union Øye, which was a very pleasant experience.
The hotel works hard to maintain the style and atmosphere from its heyday 100 years ago or more. The buildings and rooms are old-style, and of course with no TV or internet connections in the rooms (nor, officially, elsewhere in the hotel).
The food was good and...

Had for a long time planned to stay at the hotel, and it fullfilled all the expectations!!
Walking through the hallways was like visiting a museum where you could peep into all the free rooms behind a rope. Every room has it`s own caracter and name, all the interior was charming, old fashioned - except for the bathrooms - and...
