These reviews are mostly about an old Company so not relevant. We booked through Hoseasons and the site managers Sarah and Neil could not have been more helpful, answering questions, confirming what was in the local village before our visit and personally dropping the travel cot to us on arrival. We stayed for a long weekend in 5 Hawthorn Close, a very modern, spacious, SPOTLESSLY clean, 2 bedroom lodge with a gated decking area that had a modern table and chairs complete with footstools (and comfy cushions stored in a cupboard inside the lodge) and hot tub. We used the hot tub every day which was to the perfect temperature and very clean but only had one set of working jets! I read a review moaning about the size of the “BBQ” too but it isn’t actually a BBQ, it’s a metal stand which enables you to have a disposable BBQ safely, standard for a wooden lodge and was absolutely perfect for what we needed. We spent most of our time at the beach in Frinton-on-Sea (12 minute drive), Walton-on-the-Naze (12 minute drive) and Clacton-on-Sea (15 minute drive). The villages of Thorpe-le-Soken where the lodge is and Kirby-le-Soken are in the middle of Frinton and Walton. The Red Lion” pub in Kirby-le-Soken does gorgeous food and there’s “The Ship” if you like pub grub which caters for children too. Walton is a bit run down and the pier isn’t very nice but lots to do for kids! Frinton beach is gorgeous and so clean but you need to take everything with you for the day as there’s nothing there, not even a hut selling water, you have to walk to the high street. Clacton was our favourite as a typical seaside resort really with “fluffy sand” as my 5 year old called it and lots to do. There’s also a high street where we found the best rated fish and chip shop called “M&A Fish Bar” which was amazing! Would highly recommend the haddock and chips, it was up there with the best we’ve ever had! We ordered a Chinese from “Hokkaido” one evening which was really nice and delivered to the park gate. There are 2 chinese takeaways in the village too which is a 10 minute walk, but they don’t deliver. There’s also a small Tesco Express (cash point outside too), a cafe, pharmacist and a restaurant/bar called Harry’s which has a lovely outside decking area and caters for children with a children’s menu, high chairs and baby change. A neighbour to the lodge also told us about a park which is a 5 minute walk. You turn right out of the lodge park until you get to the off-road car park for the scout hut on your left and follow the path round to the right. There was a lovely playground, small zip wire, skate park and football pitches, perfect for children and a lovely, clean area as no dogs are allowed. This should really be in the information pack within the lodge as perfect for children. The lodge has all you need including different plastic glasses for wine and champaign so they were safe to use in the hot tub, a basket full of jigsaws/books, small bags of toiletries provided in both bathrooms and tea, coffee, sugar etc as you’d find in a hotel. All lovely little touches and very much appreciated! Our only recommendations for improvements would be to clean the outside of the lodge as it was covered in bugs that came into the lodge at night with the windows open (which they had to be at 32 degrees), more powerful showers or a good clean of the limescale on the shower heads and TV’s in the bedrooms as there are aerials and sockets on the walls but nothing there, which was disappointing considering the price of the lodge!! …
