Toc-H is a name I remember from childhood, being an ex-servicemen's organisation. It was signallers' code for TH and short for Talbot House, the all-ranks rest and recuperation centre, founded in 1915 by the Rev. Philip 'Tubby' Clayton, a British Army chaplain. That was as much as I knew until we visited Poperinge in September.
