Haven eaten here before, quite a few times and rarely there's a complaint, trying the roast (that is now served instead of a carvery) was a huge disappointment. Firstly it never arrived and I had to ask for it, secondly when it arrived shortly after, the veg was sloppy and cold, clearly it had been left aside, the mash could not have been home made, it looked similar to smash. While I'd visit for a general pub meal, a roast I would not. Such a shame

This is a drinkers pub in the middle of a small market town. It is not the Ritz and therefore expectations need to reflect this. The room was clean and tidy with everything in good order and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and the food was good. Breakfast was a feast and enough to feed the entire inhabitants of a Caribbean island in one sitting. Be warned that you need to specify what you want for breakfast the night before, if you aren't specific you get the world. I'm not sure if i'd stay over a weekend as I can imagine that it would get very loud and feisty.

Came here for lunch a few days ago was pleasantly surprised , fantastic food with great value for money prices, the chips were homemade and Chunky as all pub chips should be , the beef and the chicken were cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend for either lunch with a pint or a cheap dinner before heading into town , the glamorous barmaid was very welcoming and made our visit much more enjoyable.
We will definitely be coming back

We stayed here for 1 night en route to Edinburgh to break up the journey from Yorkshire. The pictures on booking.com are completely different that what you actually get.
Upon arrival we were told that our room didn’t have a toilet but had a shower.... ideal!
The toilet was down the hall but alas didn’t flush and any body could use it even though we were told it was just for us.
The room was damp and smelt fusty.. it’s apparent they knew this as there were little pots everywhere trying to soak up moisture. The tv remotes were covered in filth. Wall paper was peeling off and it resembled more of a crack den or half way house then a hotel. The walls on the way up to the room were covered in marks and stains like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Which begs the question what has the owners/ manager been doing during lock down? Every other pub I’ve been in has upped safety and cleanliness 100% however this pub is clearly chancing it. Not one customer out of the 5 I saw were asked to track and trace. No masks on staff and 1 bloke was stood at the bar. Not once did myself or my husband see anyone clean or sanitise anything.

Granted you get what you pay for and the room wasn’t very expensive however that doesn’t excuse the lack of care and disregard for public safety.
I’m at an absolute loss about this hotel, I’ve visited concentration camps that were nicer.
Anyway going for a COVID test now and I’ll send you the results with my letter for compensation.

Our twin room was small but at £73 for one night, it was still value for money. The room was clean and warm and the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the pub downstairs and the meals were tasty and not expensive. The hotel does not have its own car park but we were lucky and found a space on the street outside.

I am not a snob but the lack of bedside tables and bedside lights are a must. The tv is positioned at an angle that hurts your neck to watch from bed. Strange noise after flushing the loo that went on at 5 minute intervals for about an hour afterwards was bizarre?!

Apart from that, the bed was comfy, noise from the street and bar is to be expected so this wasn’t a problem for us but I would suspect that it would be for some. No parking but it doesn’t advertise that it has any? We stayed in Early September so we didn’t need any heating.

We probably would stay here again as we almost had everything we needed. Next time I would ensure we had bedside lights.

I searched for dog friendly places to eat and this popped up. Booked easily. It was quiet when we arrived and the barman was very friendly. My husband was happy with the choice of beers on offer, there was a great selection of food on the menu. I had curry and he had fishcakes both of which were excellent. The dog really enjoyed herself and so did we. We are already planning to go back.

Came here during the summer of 2020 whilst walking the Cleveland way with a friend. Pub was actually really nice bit the rooms available were so poor
Didn't have high expectations as the room was cheap and it's over a pub. No space in the car park and the staff unfortunately didn't know where else to park for free, not that much of an issue as we just googled it. The walls shook as a result of the washing from the kitchens, there was a shower in the room...but this was open plan so a bit awkward when staying with a friend but again, fine. Biggest issue was with cleanliness, the loos weren't clean and no toilet roll provided either, would have thought it was being monitored especially because if covid.
Overall really disappointing, would not stay here again and would not recommend if needing a place to stay in Guisborough.
