Just got bk from a one night stay with dinner and breakfast. We were very disappointed in the cleanliness of the room, it had a dirty carpet, dirty windows. The mattress was very uncomfortable, there was a plaster over the smoke alarm. It was a real shame as the restaurant had excellent service and the food was wonderful. More

The kings arms is a very traditional country looking building. It is set back from a very busy main road. When we arrived we realised that this is not really a regular style hotel, it is a very nice restaurant with (8?) rooms in outbuildings. There is no reception area, you check-in at the bar (although don't get excited the... More

This is a diifficult review. I guess most people go here for the food and the rooms are an afterthought. On the food front this place is a delight. The staff are very friendly, service is good and the restaurant is very atmospheric. It is split into a warren of small rooms all with fascinating pictures-in one room old photos... More

Used the "hotel" for 2 nights on a Groupon deal on a Sunday and Monday night staying away for a treat on a birthday. 1st impressions were "what a strange place" as there are no actual signs anywhere, no reception but when we found a member of staff he was very helpful and we were shown to our room. The... More

We had a great deal on Groupon and were therefore happy with our stay. Staff friendly, restaurant quaint, food good but accomodation only adequate. The rooms are very small but do have everything you need. The bedding, quilts sheets and pillows etc are poor quality and not nice to sleep in. The room had a nice view and as we were... More

I haven't stayed here so can't comment on the accomodation. This is about the restaurant. Its a tough review actually because we like going there but know plenty of people who don't like the way the dining room is set out. They have a bar area but sadly they have decided to put tables in it to maximise profits I... More

We stayed here at the beginning of January - husband, 17 year old son and myself. We had initially booked a triple room but on checking in they gave us an additional room - great for our teenager. We ate in the restaurant which was also excellent and the service was superb. More

Stayed after Christmas for a family get together. Really convenient to Fernhurst. Lovely place to stay. Cleanliness OK, few cobwebs in the room but it was on the beams so very authentic! Bathroom nice and big. Stayed in the twin room which was the disabled room - Room 1, didn't know unitil we arrived but it was fine. Out of... More

Their website implies that this is a cozy pub with a fab restaurant and nice rooms, but in fact it is just a restaurant (not even really a bar, and certainly no lounge), with a nearby motel. What's good? Pretty clean, food ok and prices ditto, view at the back lovely, private venue space attractive. Nice old beams in restaurant.... More

My friend and I stopped here by chance not knowing it was a FrancoPierre White restaurant. We had the set menu which was excellent value, considering the quality of the food, the generous portions and the friendly, professional service. Full silver service - lovely white tablecloths and napkins - but all set within a beautiful old beamed building. A real... More
