They serve two kinds of beer. Light and dark. It has nothing to do with alcohol content, just the colour and flavour. Try both. The beds are extremely comfy and economically placed in the small building. Washrooms are clean. Eating area is very sociable. They make pizzas. They looked good but I never tried one. The showers eating coins, so... More

This was a perfect vacation from our 6 week Euro-vacation. At most hostels you wake up, leave, come back at midnight and sleep, then do it again. In the alps, there's nothing to do but hike all day (that's a good thing) so when it gets to the evening, everyone seems to make their way back to the large lodge-like... More

Loved the quaintness of this town and the amazing beauty of the Alps here. We arrived early in the season (April), so nothing was open in Gimmelwald, so we had to travel to Murren (45 min walk uphill or cable car ride) to get groceries and find a restaurant. This early in the season many of the hiking trails were... More

We stayed here in 2009, and it was unreal. A must see for every backpacker or traveler. Coin showers, summer camp style beds, and a quaint meeting area made this a unique and lovable hostel. A feeling of a simple life, with the most breath taking views. And lots of hikes around the area make it fun during the day... More

The price is great, they have a well-equipped common kitchen, which is really nice after a long day of hiking! You do have to pay for showers, and when we were there, there was a 2-hour cleaning lockout every morning that was a little inconvenient. Overall, though, it was a great stay and a good value.

I can't even believe that the mountain hostel has any bad reviews! It is by far my favorite place in the entire world! The staff is absolutely amazing! They made me feel so welcome, and I actually miss them now that I'm no longer there. The location couldn't be better.. In the Swiss alps?! You can't ask for more. The... More

The view is spectacular! Very clean hostel. The view is the main thing and worth the dorm style rooms and showers. The food is a bit expensive but understandable in that it has to be brought in by cable car! The family that runs it is wonderful.

Price is fair, bathrooms are good, although you did have to pay for showers when I was there. Kitchen is great, cooked several meals here with supplies picked-up in Murren about 30 min away. Sleeping was great for us but both times I have been were boarding on off season so there were only a handful of other guests. People... More

I stayed at this hostel about two days.. The view was great, though it was little difficult to go to grocery stores or train station. And the bed i slept was not bad, though it was a little too close to another bed. But I could understand that because the hostel is small and located in the mountain The worst... More

Mountain Hostel is in a great location with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau along with waterfalls and other beautiful scenery. It is a great place to meet fun people and use as homebase for outdoor adventures. You can even save money by buying groceries and cooking for yourself! There is one downside - FLIES!
