This place is remote, and even though it is close by Great Ocean road, it does feel like as if we are in the middle of Australias bushland. Great Ocean Ecolodge is a charming accomodation where you will get a taste of the australian wildlife. We loved the homemade food made by ingredients picked in the garden. The huuuge croissants... Being able to watch kangaroos while you clean your teeth is pretty unforgettable experience! As was having sugar-gliders perch on your arm and lick honey off the end of your finger, hearing about the Lodge's efforts to save a species of quoll once thought extinct, with the aid of lots of poo-sniffing dogs and their owners, and finding out about... We stayed here on a drive from Melbourne along the Great Coast Road and wondered why our travel agent had booked us in for two nights. We soon found out as Shayne took us out in the early evening to see the Koala in the lodge sanctuary and then took us Koala spotting in the wild in the lodge grounds.... More

The best thing about our stay was the opportunity to interact with the wildlife. The lodge is comfortable and clean. Dinner is simple and tasty but expensive ($36 for chicken curry and rice, $17 for dessert) but they have a captured audience - the nearest restaurant is miles away on a dark bush road and if you did go out... Thanks for your review. I am terribly sorry you felt as though we weren't expecting you - that is certainly not how we would like our guests to feel on arrival! The Ecolodge is a social enterprise of the Conservation Ecology Centre, raising funds for conservation and also offering a way for our community (from all over the world) to... More

Friendly, very clean and comfortable with a country charming feel, afternoon tea, wonderful meals, dine with other guests. The daily 2 hour afternoon tour of grounds and facilities was fun and educational; an interesting experience one will not find at a hotel or B&B. Our room was large with a wooden deck. Kangaroos were plentiful outside our room in the... More

My adult daughter and I spent the first 2 nights' here on our Great Ocean Walk. We had a lovely big downstairs twin room opening onto a wooden deck area- wonderful for airing out our walking shoes and tops! Everyone we met here (owners, staff and guests) were friendly and relaxed. Sitting around the big dining table for dinner and delicious... More

We stayed for two nights before Christmas and we all loved it. Not luxury but definitely comfortable. You dine with other guests in the evening and the food is wonderful (product mostly sourced locally). Breakfast and tea and cake as well provided. Our children loved seeing the animals around the property and learning about them. The staff is absolutely wonderful,... More

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a trip along the Great Ocean Road and had a fantastic time. The lodge is in its own grounds down a very quiet road just off the highway that ultimately stretches down to the lighthouse at the end. From the moment that you arrive and drive across the fields you realise... More

We recently spent two nights at Great Ocean ecolodge. It is reminiscent of a safari lodge in Africa in how it is run. Guests are welcomed to tea and then choose from a menu with two options, one meat, one veggie so dinner can be prepared. At about 4.30 guests are invited to go for a nature walk with Shayne... More

I volunteered for 2 weeks at the CEC and can't wait to go back! Shayne & Lizzie were so sweet and made us feel right at home. Kylie, the head chef and protector of the organic garden, made the most delicious meals. She needs to make a cookbook of her recipes and CEC could sell it to raise funds for... More
