I booked the Douglas on the strength of the Deuchars on tap and the crackling! We and our three (well-behaved) young children stayed for three nights. The room was clean and bright, the beds comfortable and our room was adapted to fit the kids in with us with no fuss. We ate in the restaurant each night and had a... More

This was our first stay at this small hotel, although we had used the restaurant on a previous occasion. A friendly welcome from the owner on arrival - offered us fresh milk as an alternative to the little pots of UHT. The clean, comfortable and well-furnished room hadn't the best view out of the window, but then perhaps we had... More

Didn't stay here, stayed in a local bed and breakfast but ate here every night. The food is lovely and well worth the money the portions are huge. Defo worth a visit if looking for somewhere to eat. More

I have stayed here several times over the last few years and it has always been excellent. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and so are the locals. The restaurant serves fantastic food and the specials give you a chance to eat something to something seasonal. The desserts are simply wonderful! The breakfast is also great - I highly... More

I have stayed in the Douglas several times and am never disappointed. Rooms always clean and breakfast choice and quality is excellent. The fact that many of the locals dine there is testimony to the dinner menu. The meals are wonderful with something to cater for everyones taste. Staff are always helpful, pleasant and friendly. I will be back there... More

We chose this hotel for lunch due to the great TA reviews and were not disappointed. As a start to our holiday it was great but Oh! the portion sizes are huge, a half portion of fish and chips for my two girls was the size of an adult portion...too much for lunch. A real surprise in the middle of... More

what a lovely place everyone so friendly could not be more helpful and as for the food.. ..........We have worked in catering for over twenty years and cannot praise the food more highly. the slow cooked belly pork with black pudding and crackling histrionic could never be bettered. A very comfortable imaginatively styled hotel with a great family owning and... More

We arrived at Langholm following a stay in Melrose with visits to Smailholm Tower, the Hermitage, and Jedburgh Abbey. Neither of us had been to Langholm before and the drive up the A7 revealed a very pretty and pleasant landscape. We booked two rooms for two nights at The Douglas Hotel and though we arrived a bit early were instantly... More

The Douglas Hotel is in the heart of Langholm, an interesting small town in the Scottish Borders. It's worth going out of your way to stay or eat here. The hotel punches above its weight in terms of food; the menu is unpretentious with emphasis on quality and presentation rather then frills. Local produce and home-made dishes are the orders... More
