Just passing needed a bed picked Rakaia, found St Ita's B&B and knocked on the door. Lovely place, quite, clean, friendly hosts and a great breakfast. We had tea at the local pub, be sure to have the bangers & mash, wow. Overall a great place to stay, thankyou. Geoff & Maryrose, Port Macquarie Australia.

We arrived at St Ita's the week of the Canterbury Show, Cup Week and the visit of Prince Charles and Camilla, hence Canterbury was extremely busy to say the least! How lucky we were to have the opportunity to stay in this charming guesthouse with Miriam and Ken as our hosts. It truly is a "home away from home" and... More

Our room at St. Itas was spacious and clean, and the space heater kept it a comfortable temperature. The hosts were very hospitable, offering tea and coffee upon our arrival, and serving a delicious breakfast the next morning. Though Rakaia is a small town, we enjoyed our stay at the charming B&B very much.

St. Ita's is conveniently located being just off the main road south from Christchurch airport. Rakaia itself is very small - just a couple of shops and two pubs, only one of which was serving food while we were there. The building is nice, and the garden lovely but we found our room a bit shabby. Breakfast was good. The... More

Thank you Miriam and Ken for a wonderful experience. We stayed only one night, yet we felt we new these people a lifetime. Its a clean and pleasant place that feels like you have stepped back in time with the high ceilings and cosy living space not seen in motel type accomodation. Will try our best to stay again, maybe... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and the experience was wonderful. The hosts are friendly and full of suggestions as to what to see locally - the house and gardens itself are truly stunning - an old period home with lovely large beautifully decorated rooms, including a huge guest lounge which we had to ourselves - it has a good... We spent several nights at St Ita's Guesthouse as part of a fishing trip in the South Island back country. The Guest House is a converted former convent school with generously sized rooms, beautifully decorated and maintained in a style appropriate to the age of the handsome early 20th Century building. We found our room, with its pleasant sunny aspect,... More
