I came here for a work trip. The location is beautiful, the staff very friendly and everything is very clean. But if I'd came here for vacation, I'd have experienced everything the resort has to offer after a day or 2 and would have been extremely bored after that. The food is meh. My package included only buffet food so... More

This is the nicest hotel in the area .... Air conditioned rooms and all the hot water you want. The food was hit and miss .... some days good but other days disappointing. (Breakfast comes with the room but we only had breakfast the first morning .... there was something wrong with the orange juice and both of us got... More

Got into San Jose the last day of November and drove to this hotel..we should have gotten the GPS option with the rental car as there are no road signs. But pleasant people along the way guided us there. After a 3 hour drive through the rain, fog and dark on twisty roads with no shoulders we finally arrived at... More

Perhaps I should call this review "you can never go back" ! We were there 20 years ago and it was a beautiful boutique hotel. There was a beautiful dining room where a marimba played in the evenings, there was a little zoo on the property and a lovely warm spring. When we ordered crepes for dessert they wheeled a... More

The room and bathroom was nice and spacious, The spa, hot-spring pool, the staff was Great, Frank made our trip a complete success, don't rent a vehicle to travel, there are very few if any road numbers, the driving is treacherous, ALTO (stop) signs don't mean anything! even in front of the police! It's a nice place, but it seems to me that all that's there are a couple of jacuzzies and warm pools... The mystic of the thermal springs is gone! Now, make no mistake, you will love it! And save some extra space on your belly for the huge breakfast!

Rooms were clean and average. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous with a waterfall and river behind it. Several large thermal pools are on the grounds to sample. The staff is very attentive and the bar drinks were great. The location is rather isolated.

My girlfriend and I stayed at El Tucano for four nights through a Living Social deal during the first week of May in 2012. There weren't very many other guests at the hotel but I think that's because this was at the very beginning of Costa Rica's "rainy season." We were a bit worried about this at first, but the... More
