I was in Thornhill for the 3 day Music Festival. Now, I was there 2 years ago for the Festival and saw a few bands in this hotel and to say it has changed would be an understatement! For the better? Absolutely so, it has emerged from it's chrysalis and while not quite in full flight, it will be very... More

I found this to be a fabulous hotel with well appointed room; I was in room number three and was able to watch the TV as I soaked in the HUGE bath ( great toiletries by the way) and wrapped in lovely fluffy towels and a complimentary bathrobe when I had soaked to prune like! The bed was exceedingly comfortable... More

Myself and 3 other family members were looking forward to a lovely Sunday roast dinner. We had booked the table for 1pm and our order was taken shortly after. We received our drinks but didn't receive our dinner until almost 1 hour later! The roast lamb and beef arrived rare with the fat unrendered. When we complained to the on... More

Dear Junek Thank you for your review, I apologise for both the long wait and that your meat was not cooked to your liking. We are always striving to improve service and hope this won't happen again. We will in future indicate on the menu that our Sunday roasts (particularly the beef) are served rare. If you choose to come... More

One night stay with diner and breakfast. The refurbishment has been done extremely well but there are one or two issues to be resolved. The dinner was good but not excellent. The fish was a tad over done and the pork dish was too small for a main course. Breakfast was also good but a touch slow. The room had... More

Recently my partner and I decided to pop in for a meal at the newly refurbished restaurant as we had visited prior to the new ownership. It was a delightful transformation as the older building was tired and food was not of a high standard. As we booked a table on Friday night it was relatively busy which was nice... More

We had a lovely meal in friendly and pleasant surroundings. The food was good and the staff very friendly. We found the piano music enjoyable but a wee bit too loud. There was a slight mix up with the order, however the waiter was quick to put this right and apologised for the inconvenience. This did not stop us having... More

I cannot rate this establishment highly enough. We live locally, and whereas whilst under previous ownership we hardly frequented it, we now go there several times a week. It has the ambience of a high class and stylish country hotel and is rapidly becoming an institution in the district. We invariably find proprietor and bon viveur Arthur the most charming... More

The three of us went out for dinner last weekend and were completely bowled over. We went into the lounge bar and treated ourselves to some very special gin which is manufactured by the family who own the hotel! Langtons No1 try it!! We then sat in some very comfortable furnishing before promptly being asked to our table. Fabulous atmosphere... More

I have not eaten here for a very long time, but returned recently for lunch with a friend. We were very pleasantly surprised! The set menu offered a good choice, and everything was delicious. Friendly attentive staff made our experience an extremely positive one.
