Blackwoods campground is located in Acadia National Park, in the heart of Mount Desert Island, Maine. For over forty years this campground has been one of my families favorite vacation destinations, in fact I loved the area so much we moved to the island 15 years ago. Blackwoods has undergone some changes in recent years, new vegetation has been planted... More

Always love staying with family here but this year we were renting rv's and couldn't get answer if tip-outs were allowed so we cancelled. Would be nice to know we have two tip-outs in one camper and one in another. We usually tent but decided on rv's this year. We have been coming here for 4 years and just location... More

We stayed here twice, once in June and another time in October. Both times were great, no crowds, except for one Saturday in October. The sites are nice and wooded and bathrooms are clean. Only complaint is we wish RV hookups were separated from tent sites, it was annoying listening to a generator every morning. We also wish we could... More

I had a great stay at Blackwoods Campground. The check-in was very quick and smooth with my reservation. I had a great location (A28) that fit my car and my tent well. I felt safe and comfortable the whole time. More

We stayed here for a week with our 12 yr old son and dog to get back to the basics of life, natural surroundings, no electronics and just being together as a family. The sites are nice - nicer than I have seen at expensive private camprounds. Bathrooms are nice albeit the showers are $2.00 in quarters and up on... More

Blackwoods is a pretty standard National Park campground, and we definitely enjoyed our experience there. Clean wooded campsites, super nice fire pits with a grill that flipped up over the top (which came in very handy), and best of all a short walk from these amazing cliffs at the edge of the ocean. We walked out every night to listen... More

We are repeat visitors to Acadia National Park and Blackwoods Campground, and we recommend the area to many of our friends each year. When I was younger (about a decade ago) I used to spend a lot of time in British Columbia camping in Provincial and National Parks all along Canada's West Coast and in the Rocky and the Coastal... We stayed here in a 33' fifth wheel and enjoyed our stay. Mostly tents and small rigs, not the best for big rigs. Great ranger program and nite sky. No hookups. More

Simply put, this Campground is inexpensive, very clean, and has beautiful (very private) campsites. It is located right next to the coast and very near the main hiking trails. Try to reserve in advance if at all possible, since sites fill up very quickly. We didn't make reservations and so had to wait in line every morning to get another... More

I stayed at the campground for 3 nights with my husband and two dogs. The check-in was really quick for us but we had reservations made in advance. We were in the A loop. The campground was full the entire time we were there but you would never know. It was VERY quiet at night. The bathrooms were clean but... More
