We spent one night at Santa Cruz campground and had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed great snorkeling and saw a huge ray! Took a hike up through the hills in the evening. Believe the ranger when he tells you the ravens can open zippers!!! We thought he was exaggerating. The island foxes have no fear either and it was sad... More

You have to know what you expect when you set out to camp in one of the least visited National Parks in the system. If you're the type that needs flush toilets and a shower, or likes to slip out for Chinese take-out on the second night of your camping trip, you are going to be disappointed. If you're looking... I decided to stay at Scorpion Harbor campground to see what it was like after having camped on Santa Rosa Island and San Miguel Island--both very beautiful and remote. I'd would definitely say that this is the most "family friendly" of the islands, especially if you plan to kayak. There are plenty of trails for kids to explore and the... More

For under $20 a night plus your round-trip boat fare through Island Packers, you can stay here and be away from all of the hustle-bustle of Los Angeles/the world. There is a solar powered visitor center that gives you history of the Island's natives, the subsequent ranch and the restoration project. Trails throughout the island provide wonderful views, Be prepared... More

Santa Cruz Island is one of the hidden treasures of southern california. It isn't often that an island 3 times the size of manhattan sits untouched within miles of a major city. Most people in Southern California haven't heard of it and almost no one has visited. I stayed at the santa cruz campground over the july 4th holiday in... More
