We called on the day that we were driving up to the Canyon on the off chance that there would be a vacancy and lo and behold, they had a cancellation. We stayed one night. Everything was great. Simple, clean room with all the amenities. Parking was difficult to find, but that was to be expected. The only inconvenience was... More

We spent 3 nights at the thunderbird lodge in April, we had a nice room, with a rim view. The room was very comfortable, everything looked brand new, the beds very comfortable too, nice bathroom, refrigerator, coffee machine, and it was a surprise that we have good reception in the wi-fi service( we did some day trips outside the park, so it... I had low expectations when I booked this hotel, but I was very surprised how nice it is. It isn't luxurious by any means and yes, it is overpriced, but in this case I didn't mind. The rooms are much nicer in person than they look on the Xanterra website. The carpets and draperies looked brand new and everything else... More

This hotel is footsteps from the South rim. Yes you can save some money by staying outside the park but it is very easy to go and see sunrise when you are staying at the rim. You have to check in at the Bright Angel Lodge. Our room was small with a king bed. It was clean and so was... More

Let's face it - we chose this lodge for its location. And you step outside, and the rim is right in front of you. Absolutely AWESOME! The lodge itself is well kept. It looks rustic (which is GREAT), but they are doing a great job of keeping it well maintained and we were all happy with this choice. The staff... More

This is a great option for a room that is reasonably priced and close to the rim . Get the "rim view" and you will have a magnificent view of the canyon. The overall size of the room is small with 2 queen beds (4 pillows each) and a writing desk. There is a small closet with just a few... More

Very nice hotel, and centrally located. Loved the food at El Tovar for breakfast or dinner; even the coffee was good! Loved staying so close to the rim, but-the most overriding drawback- I had a view of the street instead of the Canyon.

We got reservations at the Thunderbird (a year in advance) because the Bright Angel lodge cabins were sold out and/or too small for our party (two families of 4 each). The pix of the Thunderbird make it look like a 60's throwback...the motel on the rim. But, it was really nice; the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were nice.... More

We (4 adults) spent 2 nights at Thunderbird earlier this month. While it doesn't have the charm and age of the 2 historic lodges (El Tovar & Bright Angel) at the park, it is just as close to the rim as they are. We were given an Accessible Room, which had the added benefit of a back door opening directly... More
