What an amazing place. We stayed for just one night over a weekend and had dinner on Saturday night, breakfast SUnday and loved it so much we changed plans for SUnday to incorporate lunch too. So wonderful to find somewhere that not only serves great food and has great service to match, but that does so in such a relaxed... More

Rooms (our room #1) - bright, natural night, tastefully decorated in lovely neutral, coastal hues - overall effect very calming and peaceful. The bathroom was large, well lot with natural light and good quality amenities (l'occitane) at the time of writing! The overall feel - coupled with the views over the estuary - was of understated quality and peaceful retreat.... More

My wife and I arrived at this hotel at 15.30 pm on our day of check in as agreed on paperwork etc. only to be told by a rather curt young woman that there were repairs still in progress in the said room. So we sat in reception and decided to have a drink as the room was not ready,... More

Just spend another couple of nights at this brilliant hotel and restaurant. Satyed there duri98ng the summer last year and decided to make a return visit. The staff could not have been more helpful and unexpectedly remembered us from the last visit. The room was large and very comfortable with great views over the estuary. The food in the restaurant... We spent a lovely weekend here. The room was spacious, spotless and charming. The staff was attentive and pleasant. The room fee included dinner, which in and of itself is a worthwhile reason to stop here. A very pleasant stay and we've already booked our next.

What can I add that other reviewers have not already said? From stepping through the door to the last warm goodbye, our stay here was perfect. The hotel is clean and tidy, while still maintaining a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We were shown to a jaw-droppingly huge room, with great river views and a large, spotless luxurious bathroom with good... More

We stayed here for one night as part of a half term road tour through Norfolk, Suffolk and into Kent. We booked hotels as we went along and were pleased that there was availability here as we liked the look of it from the website. We booked the inclusive DBB deal which was explained and descibed as the best value... More

3 days at half term without the kids? What better way than to spend it at the lovely Thorn on the banks of the Stour estuary. Initial coldness of room was more than compensated by the warmth of the staff who couldn't have done more to rectify the problem. This attitude set the tone and we were really well looked... More

We've been to the Mistley Thorn for dinner a number of times and decided to go there on New Years Eve but added an overnight stay and I have to say it was a good decision. Firstly, considering how other hotels and restaurants in the area bump up the prices over the Christmas period we thought the cost for dinner,... More

We choose this small country inn, for the Christmas holidays and were delighted by the friendly service, the well appointed rooms, good views over the Stour estuary for some rooms and warm, comfortable stay. Breakfasts were delicious and a good indication of the quality of the restaurant which has a great local following. A beautiful setting in a picturesque village... More
