This review reflects on the trekking holiday offered by Captivating Cuba, of which one of our accommodation highlights was The Raquel. TRAVEL COMPANIES Our focus was a trekking holiday framed by stays in Havana before and after. Captivating Cuba's (CC) offer included the 10 day Paso e Paso trek, 8 days walking with a day in Havana at each end.... More

We stayed for three nights in the Hotel Raquel and had a really good experience. We stayed in one of the back rooms with no windows and found it to be very clean and the fridge very quiet! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The building itself is beautiful and if you order drinks in the bar downstairs they... More

this is the perfect location. luxury but decent. clean and proper. in the middle of the old town, but still calm. not expensive (compared to other hotels in the class). food is very good (no porc, kosher by the way). we visited a lot other hotels in Havana before and could really chose: this is the best one, for this... Hotel Raquel is a truly beautiful building with stunning glass ceiling, it couldn't be better located either, right in the heart of Old Havana, yes lots of restoration going on around but at least that's bringing in the hard currency Cuba needs so desperately. Our friends were given a room with no window (yes it was quiet but more like... More

We stayed twice in March 2012, the first time we had a room with no window and the beakfast was not ready at the given time. 12 days later we returned and were given a marvellous room, the breakfasts we very good. Each time the rooms were spotless and the staff very helpful More

a missed chance! very nice location, wonderful building (outside), all the rest to forget.. Extremely arrogant people at the desk, after having written that they would have accepted Visa payment, they refused, pushed me to take cash everyday from ATM. Breakfast is horrible, even when compared with the ones that you would have in a very modest "casa particular" Even... More

We booket Raquel to stay in the middle of Old Havana. The hotel had a wonderful atmosphere and a perfect location. The room was big and nice - but dirty. The breakfast was very poor - even for a Cuban hotel. We had far better breakfasts on the casas particulares we used later on the trip. The total experience was... More

2nd time to cuba so we thought we would stay in a different hotel, what a dreadful mistake. The Hotel Raquel architecture is well worth seeeing but a fleeting visit is all you want to do. Our room was noisey even with ear plugs but that is the nature of Habana Vieja but was reasonable clean but I dont think... More

What disappointment Architecture, Culture & Ambience should not be confused with poor service, poor facilities & grubbiness which is abundant in this hotel. Even though we had been advised this was a no frills B&B hotel, we have stayed in better B&B’s in Kenya and Gambia which are definitely third world. Not surprised Hemingway left the place. Room had no... More

Hotel Raquel gives a real old Havana feel, the location was great and in walking distance of almost everything. There is a lovely roof top garden with nice views of old Havana. I like that the hotel has maintained so much of it's character, I think it used to be an old treasury building. We stayed here for two nights... More
