First off to say that we have travelled to Riu hotels the last number of years (which we loved) and we wanted something different this year... and our stay was comparable and even better in some sense than the Riu hotels. Tainos main drawback is that yes, as everyone has said in the reviews, the hotel needs some renovation.... BUT.......

We have just returned (17th may) from the Hotel Tainos.
We had read all the reviews before we left and felt that they were mostly correct.
The Hotel is a bit tired and could do with a lick of paint and some care and attention but the staff and the place totally make up for that.

Just got back from the Tainos. The room (bungalow) was very nice. The food at the buffet was good with a nice variety. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic. The Cuban was not nice at all. The pool was big and clean. It was deep enough that the water was quite cool.The drinks were good. The staff was hit and miss....
