The owners here are incredibly helpful and charming, which is really what rescues this place. Situated in a bit of an industrial area, it’s not actually too far away from anything. However, seems to be more like a locals’ place that one for tourists. The place is fairly heavily fortified, I am not sure why. To enter with a car you need to manually open a couple of heavy iron doors from the inside and then re-lock them from the inside. Walking in there’s a key card which opens a heavy iron door. Parking is inside the courtyard – might be difficult with a larger car. The rooms are centered around a courtyard with a smallish (not too small though) swimming pool. Looked decent enough, but did not try it. I was upgraded to one of the bigger rooms, which had it’s own kitchen. Everything was small and dark though - so dark I had difficulty taking pictures. Bedroom had limited storage space (strange cupboard), and a small CRT TV, actually with several English speaking movie channels. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. Wifi worked fine, fairly fast. Sound proofing was poor – you could hear anyone speaking outside (including other guests getting ready to go to work at six in the morning). There was a hall which was the same size as the bedroom with a wicker sofa… largish bathroom (shower) and a small, cramped kitchen. Fridge, gas stove, microwave, coffee maker – no real surface to work on though, so a little hard to get anything done. Bed was OK, pillows were plasticky and very hard (although I stayed in another apartment later and the pillows there were fine) The shower had an atmor (electric water heater), and this, together with the a/c in the bedroom was metered and paid for separately. Contrary to the other reviews here, I only ended up paying $2 for three nights – and I did use the a/c and water a fair bit. All lighting is low-power white bulbs, which is unpleasant. The rooms were dark and felt cramped – there was no desk or table to use inside, which is a minus. Outside the apartment had a porch, with a chair and picnic table which was a bit high for the chair. SO the place does have potential – rethinking the design, improving the bedding and furniture, and the lighting, would make this a decent place. Until then, I have to admit I would not consider this one of my first options.…
