If you are looking for luxury, lots of amenities, or a semi-lively nightlife (such as a lively bar scene) this is not your place. However, if you are looking for one of the best beaches in/near San Juan and total relaxation this IS your place. The place is right on the beach - room 12 is the best with a... More

Very low key and very service minded small guest house. Stunning rooms, and right on the beach. They'll set you up with a beach chair and a drink and you're taken care of. Fresh - and one of the best I've had - continental breakfast included. More

We discovered Numero Uno Guesthouse in San Juan a couple of years ago through TripAdvisor (of course.) For us, it is the perfect beach vacation hotel. Small, directly on the beach, in a fantastic neighborhood, a wonderful and caring staff, and excellent service and attention to detail. The rooms are terrific and clean, and the bests are first rate. We... More

I'm a bit surprised by all of the 5 star reviews for this place. I thought my room was really unappealing - it had bright fluorescent lights, tile floor, and is one of those places where everything feels a bit dirty, even if it isn't actually. I was staying alone and was glad, this would NOT be a place for... More

We've stayed here many times, and strongly prefer it to any of the ocean front hotels in the general area. Here's why: PLUS: -In Ocean Park, 5 minutes from the airport, a walk to the big hotel, nightlife places. -Right upon a beautiful beach, best by far in the area -Mostly locals, families, nice people and a positive scene -One... Just returned from PR. Went to this hotel after cruise mainly because it was affordable, on the beach and near the air port. The beach was beautiful but busy on a Sunday afternoon. The hotel had lounge chairs and you could also eat breakfast on the beach. I thought the breakfast pastries were very good. The room was small but... More

First, I would like to say we have stayed at Numero Uno previously, that is why we had planned a return trip. Our first trip was just lovely, a very attentive staff that was friendly and helpful. However, there has been quite a lot that has changed. Our last visit was in 2007,we had noticed on the " awards" wall that is... We stayed at Numero Uno on either end of a week in Vieques. The location on the beach is absolutely fantastic. Loved having our morning coffee on the beach. The rooms were comfortable, but the view and staff is what makes it such a special place. A little glitch was handled gracefully and professionally. We will be back. More

We needed a place for one night at the end of our trip. I wish I had had time for an extra day's stay here. The inn on the beach with the cabana staff, umbrellas, tables, mojitos was new to me, and pleasant. The staff were friendly, gracious, and patient. It was a bit more than we'd been paying, but... First and foremost, the staff bent over backwards for us, and that made our stay much better. And the location is great: the beach is very nice (though often too windy to use) and Old San Juan is very close. Still, to avoid you being disappointed, you need to know before you go, that: 1) the hotel is in a... More
