I've been visiting Rum almost every year since I was 3 and the castle has always been a wonderful place to stay. Despite the constantly changing managers, I have never had a bad stay there. Whenever we have visited we have never had to share with strangers and the bath on the top floor is amazing, its really deep. Not... More

Booked ahead, room with 4 beds, breakast and evening meal. When we'd got past the 'helpful' builders the staff were welcoming, room was basic, clean bedding and warm. Apparently top floor is much warmer than other floors. Beds comfy and despite cheeful noise through interconnecting doors, a good nights sleep was had by all. Breakfast and dinner in Bistro was... As we were doing a Scottish Island trip including Rum, we phoned ahead to try to book "hostel accommodation" at about £8-£19 per person per night as advertisied on Kinloch Castle Website, but told these beds were "full" so was offered The Oak Room at £50 per night. The room was dark and dirty, the Four Poster bed was lumpy... More

In the days of the Bulloughs Kinloch Castle, for a short spell each year, came alive. Since 1958 when it was sold to the nation, or more precisely The Nature Conservancy Council it has been in steady decline as a place to stay. We visited with London Mountaineering Club and drew straws at the door to gain a twin bedded... More

We were here for four days in the school half term with two primary age kids. Staying in the William Bass room we found the hostel/ castle a perfect base for a relaxing break. Just be aware that it is as much hostel as castle. We ate in the castle bistro every night and the chef was kind enough to... More

Stayed for the week-end with friends at kinloch castle hotel and absolutely loved it despite the wet ,wet ,wet, weather . The whole island is spectacularly beautiful and the wildlife amazing , lots of differant walks to do , thrilled to see the deer eating the sea weed in the bay at Kilmory . The castle itself is quirky and... More

An upmarket hostel experience. My son, dad and I had a 4 bedded room to ourselves and had a great few days. The bedrooms are basic bunk rooms, some of the bathrooms have large old interesting baths. The reading room is obviously part of the castle and had loads of interesting stuff on Rhum. The food in the bistro was... More
