Warm and friendly pub (and staff). Don't miss it. Good varied menu - food excellently cooked (lovely veg and REAL roast potatoes !!!). We didn't stay here (we had a nearby cottage) but ate there several times over Easter week. It's excellent value for money with the added bonus that it's very dog friendly - although only when eating in... More

Thanks for your review, we are delighted that you enjoyed it, hope you'll come and see us again. We are planting potatoes this week in the allotment, so maybe next time they will be our own "proper" potatoes! More

Stayed 1 night B & B. Lovely little village, close to Helmsley. Very clean & comfortable. With reference to another review, our room was really warm, we had to turn the radiator down (and the weather was still cold outside) Had evening meal in the restaurant - good quality food, real ale. Excellent breakfast.

This lovely Inn is a grade 2 listed building with all the charm that goes with it. The food is good (not outstanding) and freshly prepared. The staff are all very attentive and the service is therefore excellent. The only down side was the room was very cold. The radiators only became luke warm. We did bring this to their... More

Thanks for your comments, we have had some issues with the oil central heating, which the plumber has now resolved. Sorry that you had to have an additional heater for the room, and I am glad you enjoyed the rest of your stay. More

Once again we had a lovely short stay. Guy was great - again (name right this time!). Food was excellent and room comfortable. We would highly reccomend this gem of an Inn for any time of year: we had a refreshing walk in the snow and a nice welcome back into the bar with its chill-relieving log fire.

I was slightly worried after we booked this place as I read the previous review on Trip advisor which was quite negative. The room was simple & basic but perfectly clean and comfortable with an en suite that was larger than average. The room did overlook the car park but it was hardly an eyesore. It was in fact a... Thank you for your review. Can you remember which room you stayed in? We have fitted hairdryers in some rooms, and have replaced some of the travel hairdryers in the other rooms as part of our recent re-decorating. I hope we will see you again. More

Stopped for one night en route to Whitby on 25th September 2012. Booked mainly as a result of previous reviews Found that the Hotel had collected the full cost of the reservation from our credit card a week in advance of checking in. Unfortunately, we found a cold and characterless room overlooking the car park (we had to ask for... More

We only stayed one night and did not get chance to sample the food except for breakfast which was great. The staff made us feel very welcome and even carried our bags. There is an excellent selection of whiskies in the bar ( we did have a chance to sample those ) The room was pleasant and gave us a... More

We stayed for two nights in this lovely, quiet inn, set in a quaint small village, with easy access to the coast and the splendour of Dalby forest. The room was clean and comfortable with a better than average bathroom. Garth was a great host, making us feel welcome and dealing politely with our enquiries. In fact, all the staff... More

We stayed at this quaint & quiet pub/hotel for one night in July 2012. The room was overlooking the village street and was very comfortable. Arriving late, we thought we were to late for food but were lucky the chef agreed to stay a little later. There's nothing much happening in the village which was perfect for us as we... More
