I can't say enough about the staff. Yes, most do not speak much English, but they are very friendly, and helpful. I have to admit I did a very bonehead thing. I left my laptop in the open-air restaurant near the pool. The wireless connection is best in the restaurant so my husband and I had been having breakfast and... More

After reading the reviews I didn't know what to expect! Well the elevator works! The units are clean, there quite. The restuarant is ok. This place is a good family place to stay. They have cermanic painting you can do by the pool. Theres 4 pools, a bar. The grounds are kept nice. The staff are not to much on... More

This is a six-story hotel, and the frightening elevator mentioned by others has been removed - now it has no elevator, just a boarded up hole. If you have any challenge walking up/down stairs, this is probably not a good fit. It is at least a ten minute walk to the public beach access, across the main highway and behind... More

Mexican hotels aren't necessarily bad, as long as you know what you're getting into. First of all, you'd better know some Spanish, because almost none of the employees speak English, incl. front desk staff. When we were there, most of the guests were native Mexican, this hotel apparently caters to Mexican families.. The rooms were spacious and clean, but had... More

The hotel does not compare to the beach front hotels. It is more home like. More like authentic Mexico. The service was great. The prices were very down to earth. The garden about the pool is tropical and lush. The walk to the beach is about 500 yards. We drove to the beach but the beaches we went to required... More

One of my friends children got hurt getting out of the pool, the Hotel Manager did come to assiste them but only to take them to the Marina Hospital, not knowing the language they were just left there. At this moment no one in the Hospital spoke english and the Maniger did not ask if they needed anymore help. On... More

I don't know what type of experience other people were looking for when they stayed at this property by I found it to be a charming, wonderful hotel and location. It has a wonderful rustic feel with the adobe-like construction (not "Flintstone-y in any way). The staff were most cordial; the two pools the hotel offered were wonderful. The grounds... More

It is not the most glamorous place, but its definitely comfortable, clean and the staff is nice. The only problem was the 3 flights of stairs, the elevator didn't work half the time and when it did I was too scared to ride on it. As much as I ate on my vacation the 3 flights were good for me!... I stayed at Hotel Puerta del Mar on May 5-12, 2007. When we first got there, I was surprised to see how small the 1 bedroom was, so my husband asked if we could be upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite, which they kindly did. The room made me feel like I was living with the Flinstones, because the walls... More

We stayed at Puerta del Mar the week of Febuary 24, 2007. On a Scale of 1 to 10 I would rate them a "6". The rooms were clean but a little worn. The kitchen appliances were old. The refrigerator although working, was in need of minor repairs. Instead of a stovetop there was a plug-in two burner portable appliance... More
