The room we had was small, the closet half sized but there was much needed air conditioning that was very noisey. The fixtures in the bathroom were poorly installed and leaked everywhere. The provided safety box was not fixed to any surface and could easily be lifted and taken away, but it didn't lock anyway. The only lock on the... More

Overpriced, sad and impersonal place set in a crummy part of the city. The walk to the zocalo is almost scary and no shops nor restaurants are close by. This is a nice hotel right by the beach. However Friday and Saturday night are unbearably loud. There is a car stereo culture. Cars line up outside the hotel with very impressive sub-woofers. On our previous stays at Veracruz, we stayed at hotels in the Zocalo of Veracruz which proved to be very noisy. Hotel Candilejas is not only very reasonably priced, the staff made us feel like family. The rooms are well-sized, clean and all face the ocean. The rooms have air conditioning, which works well, we actually got cold at night!... More
