We have stayed at the Royal Islander since 1999, and it has maintained the excellence. The villas are well-appointed, cleaned 6 days a week, and the entire staff is top notch. The Islander is adjoins the Royal Caribbean and the Royal Mayan, so there are 3 pools, a large excellent beach with palapas and lounge chairs, and food and beverage... More

On our way home to Michigan from a week at the Islander. As usual the service was spectacular. Happy hour at 3 and Cayo Largo for dinner. Have vacationed all over the world and this location is still the best value. The media plays up the drug violence as that's what sells? The Yucatan is far from the US borders... More

I have stayed at the Royal Sands and the Royal Islander and they were both very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and extremely polite. The rooms all have a great view of the ocean and even the studio has 2 queen beds and a microwave and mini fridge. They provide plates and silverware for 2 so you do... More

- great family location - lots of kids activities and terrific security. - no cash transactions (everything is on your room card). Thus almost no beach vendors. - extremely clean and neat. Gardeners and maids are always at work. - Having a well stocked market and travel agent on site are very convenient. - Great pool and beach access and... More

I rated a 2 because of how strong outside noise can be heard. My wife kept on getting woken up by our neighbors throughout the night, and had trouble falling asleep because you can hear everything that goes on outside.Overall, the staff was very friendly. The beach was clean generally, but towards the end of the trip, due to a storm,... More

I am a travel agent, and have been all over the Caribbean. The Royal resorts are great. They are always clean, service with a smile, beach is always immaculate, restaraunts are just ok onsite. You have access to four other sister properties by free shuttle. The best places to eat off the property but nearby are the Captains Cove Sea food on the lagoon... More

I just returned from another visit to the Royal Islander in Cancun. I have lost count of the number of times I have vacationed at this resort. I consider it a refuge whenever I need a break from the day-to-day. It is great for families and friends and it is also terrific if you are traveling alone. Everything is meticulously... More

My husband and I stayed here with our teenage daughter and her friend. It was a great place to stay. The property is clean, the staff are very nice, and the beach is beautiful. If you are looking to party - this might not be the property for you. It is away from the party area and while you can... More
