I spent 4 nights at la casa del Tio Dach and if I ever come back to Merida, I'll definately stay here again. Simple but spotless place, decorated in such a lovely manner, oozes really nice atmosphere.. Delightful breakfast, with fresh fruit every morning and limitless coffee. Just a short (and pleasant) walk from Zocalo. Everything you want from a... More

I stayed at La Casa del Tio Dach for one night and I highly recommend it for low-budget travellers. It's a beautiful home with charming, meticulously decorated rooms, and it's in a great location: it's a ten-minute walk to the city's main plaza, and a ten-minute walk to the second class bus station (which is great if you plan on... I can totally recommend this hotel. The main reason is the super friendly and welcoming owner Edwin. He is the secret highlight of this family run hotel. We stayed there for 2 nights and were totally happy with it. Edwin tries to help you wherever he can and gives you precious insider tips and advice. He really gave us the... More

I stayed at La Casa del Tio Dach at the beginning of April. The location was perfect for sight-seeing in Merida. It's close to the main park, where cultural events are held, and within walking distance of many restaurants, galleries, and museums. I liked the quietness of this B&B and felt right at home. Edwin prepared delicious sweet bread, fruit,... More

This hostel is more like a second home than a hotel/hostel. The owner Edwin, and every member of the staff bent over backwards to make me feel welcome. Within minutes of checking in I had a map of Merida with excellent advice on what to see, including lots of insider tips, and what tours to the ruins were worthwhile. The... More

La Casa del Tio Dach is, in my mind, la casa del tio Edwin, the owner/manager, and an absolute fount of knowledge about the Yucatan. Edwin's family owns this gorgeous old house located a few blocks from the Zocalo, and they've beautifully decorated it. The walls are covered with artwork by Yucatec artists -- even the (incredibly clean) bathroom adjoining... More
