According to my colleagues (who are from Mexico) the fact that this Hotel is located right in Downtown make it safer to stay than other hotels in town, how come? well, there are always people around and police presence.

located across from a beautiful main plaza and walking distance from watewrway, shops, mercado and good restaurants, however i found the room musty, dingy and hot but tolerable after dark! maintenence was no help and front desk staff was uncaring and rude.
i will visit tampico again but i will try another hotel.

Right on the Plaza de Amas. Great restaurant with windows overlooking the park. Good service and clean.
